Our customer, Homebase, is changing the way small businesses manage their workforce. Homebase’s software platform puts payroll, scheduling, time tracking, communication, and HR all in one place, enabling 150,000+ SMBs to move faster and more cohesively. Homebase offers web and mobile platforms so owners and employees can work quickly on the go. Homebase has also launched a series of AI-powered assistants that help small businesses save hours each week, and stay focused on running their businesses.Â
By integrating multiple facets of a small business into a single digital platform, Homebase gives their customers an advantage in their respective industry, enabling them to save time and conserve resources by automating payroll, creating easy digital routes to adjust scheduling and time tracking on the fly, and manage HR in an intuitive digital experience. Homebase’s investment in their engineering teams enabled the company to support more than 1+ billion hours worked across time sheets for 3.5 million employees last year. .Â
With the scale of Homebase’s platform, given their unique user roles between owners and employees, web and mobile platforms, and multiple feature sets across HR, payroll, scheduling, and time-tracking, Homebase had created an expansive platform that required wide testing efforts across different operating systems.Â
Certain features involved communication across multiple mobile devices, web dashboards and user types simultaneously and in tandem, which was difficult to test manually or with traditional automation frameworks. Homebase had tried to use traditional UI automationÂ
frameworks multiple times in the past, but due to the size and complexity of their platform, manual testing became the best option to reliably complete regression testing.Â
The regression suite also took too long to execute—it was only completed once per quarter on Android, and even less frequently on iOS, even though their release cycle was every two weeks due to the time and labor it took to complete the test.
Homebase turned to Mobot to provide a more scalable, low-maintenance mobile testing solution in late 2024. Mobot’s customer-facing team worked with Homebase to develop a project plan and timeline to achieve Homebase’s goals, and ensure that the new tests automated each week were up to Homebase’s standards. The teams collaborated together through a shared Slack channel and weekly meetings, additionally integrating into Homebase’s test case repository and ticketing system. Mobot automated over 100 complex end-to-end test cases on each mobile platform in less than 4 months to fully cover app functionality.Â
By leveraging Mobot’s real-device, robotic automation, Homebase was able to:Â
Reduce manual regression time from 5-10 days to same-day resultsÂ
Achieve full regression coverage on Android and iOS each releaseÂ
Scale app features without hiring more QA engineersÂ
Rapidly adapt tests to changes in app features and UIÂ
As Mobot was continuing to automate Homebase’s regression test suite, Homebase completely rewrote their scheduling feature. While creating automation, Mobot demonstrated capabilities to continuously maintain test flows that were going under significant UI development and changes without slowing down test suite growth.Â
“The speed of the automation, whether it’s the initial development of the test or the ongoing maintenance…makes Mobot very unique in their approach.”Â
– Zeev Vax, Engineering Director, Mobile PlatformÂ
“What took us 4–6 months to build in-house for just one Android smoke test suite, Mobot was able to replicate and validate in about 1–2 weeks.”Â
– Zeev Vax, Engineering Director, Mobile Platform
As Homebase onboarded Mobot, Mobot’s dedicated support team continued to gain crucial institutional knowledge of Homebase’s app and process through the help of the Homebase team, understanding when robot-reported results were bugs versus app UI updates or A/B tests and saving the Homebase team countless errors of sifting through false positives.Â
Since engaging Mobot, Homebase has seen substantial improvements: ‍
Shortening of regression test suite length from 10+ days to 1 dayÂ
Ability to execute the full regression suite every release for iOS and Android - 1,040 E2E test cases automated and continuously maintained‍Full regression automation without internal strain
Rapid updates to test plans during UI changesÂ
Support for feature flags, experiments, and complex rollouts‍Moved from biweekly releases to weekly releases for iOS and Android‍
“Mobot gave us the ability to finally scale regression testing in a way we couldn’t do ourselves.”
‍– Zeev VaxÂ
“Mobot combines the rigor of automation with the agility of human-in-the-loop oversight. The speed and flexibility are a game changer.”
‍– Alka Dubey, QA Lead AnalystÂ
“We estimated building the same plans internally would take around 8 engineer-years. Mobot got it done in 3 months with one Homebase resource as a point of contact.”
- Zeev VaxÂ
By partnering with Mobot, Homebase transformed its mobile testing from a manual bottleneck into a fast, scalable system. Mobot now handles the full burden of mobile regression coverage—freeing Homebase's QA and engineering teams to focus on feature delivery and innovation.Â
With weekly releases and increasingly complex workflows, Homebase moves fast without compromising app stability, powered by Mobot.
We've helped leading development teams around the world to improve their testing processes
Mobot is amazing! Great partner to make sure we don’t have any surprises when we release new versions of our SDK! This has been a huge game changer for our mobile team and has saved us and our customers a ton of time and headache.

Can’t say enough about how much better I feel with each release now that Mobot is part of the pipeline. Our stability rating for iOS is now at 100%!!!

"With Mobot, we no longer have to worry about constant test maintenance on automation frameworks. Our testing is now reliable, scalable, and incredibly efficient."
